Lindsey Graham is no better friend to the United States military and to our veterans. I'm looking forward to going to Fort Jackson today. It is fitting that I'm going with Senator Lindsey Graham. He cares deeply about those who volunteered to serve our nation and he's a strong supporter of the nation's veterans. He's a strong supporter of the nation's veterans.

And as we keep pressure on the enemy, we must always remember that the ultimate path to peace will come from the spread of freedom and liberty, that freedom is the great alternative to the ideology of the murderers and the radicals, that but workin' help — to work — to help others become free, that our noble military is lavin' — layin' the foundation for peace for generations to come.

It's a little off the subject, but a responsible citizen is somebody who loves their child with all their heart, a citizen who says, I want to put my family — is a citizen I'd love to have working for me — a citizen who said, I want my family first, I weep when I think about the thought of missing my child's baseball games, the kind of guy I want working for me, the kind of guy I want working with me.

We marched to war. I don't if you remember, on your TV screens, last summer it — a year ago, summer — it said, 'March to War'. You turn on the TV, and there it says: 'March to War'. That's not a very conducive environment in which people are willing to take risk. It's not a positive thought. It's a necessary, in my judgment, obviously, to make America secure.

Now, we're making progress on the war against terror. It's a different kind of war. Steve re-enacts battles where there used to be infantries moving against infantries and artilleries moving against artilleries and flights of aircraft flying all over the — this is a different type of war. These folks are nothing but a bunch of cold-blooded killers who, they'll send youngsters to their death and they'll hide.

In the way they're kind of writing it right now out of the Senate Finance Committee, some people could spend their entire five years on welfare - there's a five-year work requirement - going to college. Now, that's not my view of helping people become independent, and it's certainly not my view of understanding the importance of work and helping people achieve the dignity necessary so they can live a free life, free from government control.

Steve [Riggs, volunteer with the South Carolina Military Department,] believes it's important to teach history — live history, or history that through people wearing uniforms, so they can see history come to life.

I'm sorry the First Lady is not here with me — she's hiking. But I can't tell you how proud I am of her. She's doing a fabulous job as the First Lady of the United States.

Inherent in the 70 percent number means that we've got to help people at the same time.

Government can hand out money, but it cannot put hope into people's hearts. It cannot put faith into people's lives.

People in America understand that we're into a different era, we're heading to a different culture. ...It means that you of course make a living for your family. But it also means that when you find a neighbor in need, you love that person.

I mean, after all, you might remember that some of the initial discussions after September the 11th about potential threat was about crop dusters. Now, they don't have a lot of crop dusters, you know, in Manhattan. They've got a lot of crop dusters in South Carolina or Texas. In other words, some of the intelligence we were getting was that not only were the enemy willing to use airplanes, obviously, as weapons, but what we were concerned about was that they would use other methods — like using a crop duster to spray a weapons of mass destruction, if possible. It's an indication that we had to be on alert to defend all sites and all locations in our country.

I appreciate so very much Tom Ridge's service. You know, he was a governor there in Pennsylvania, just kind of cruising along.

Our intelligence professionals and special forces have cooperated in battle-friendly — with battle-friendly Afghan forces — fighters who know the terrain, who know the Taliban, and who understand the local culture.

They are a movement defined by their hatreds. They hate progress, and freedom, and choice, and culture, and music, and laughter, and women, and Christians, and Jews, and all Muslims who reject their distorted doctrines.

I did denounce it. I de- I denounced it. I denounced interracial dating. I denounced anti-Catholic bigacy... bigotry.

The senator has got to understand if he's going to have — he can't have it both ways. He can't take the high horse and then claim the low road.

How do you know if you don't measure if you have a system that simply suckles kids through?

You bet I cut the taxes at the top. That encourages entrepreneurship. What we Republicans should stand for is growth in the economy. We ought to make the pie higher.

This is still a dangerous world. It's a world of madmen and uncertainty and potential mential losses.

Rarely is the question asked, are, is our children learning?

Governor Bush will not stand for the subsidation of failure.
