Oh, I know there's a big debate about how to deal with these folks. I will just tell you my view. You can't ration with them. You can't compromise with them. You can't hope for the best with them. You must treat them as they are, cold-blooded killers, and bring them to justice before they hurt us.

You know, I was just reflecting the other day, we've only been at this for — we've haven't even been fighting this war for a year yet. And we've got a lot of work to do. And there will be moments where the Al Qaeda thinks that, you know, maybe America is not after them, and they'll feel safe and secure. And, you know, they think they'll kind of settle into some cave somewhere.

We started the Cabinet meeting today with a prayer from Secretary Mineta, who in his prayer reminded us that this is a somber day for America. It is a day in which we've removed all the debris from Ground Zero.

We're standing amongst the largest trees on Earth, and some of the very oldest. When the Mayflower arrived on the eastern shore of, this continent, the great sequoias were already here. When the seal was fixed on the Magna Carter, the great sequoias were already here. They were here when the Roman Empire fell, and they were here when the Roman Empire rose. And had Christ himself, on, uhh — stood on this spot, he would have been in the shade of this very tree.
