Fresh Dubya We pray that America will strengthen those who serve nuestros hermanos y hermanas in need. We pray for the continued success of faith-based and community groups like Esperanza — all aiming to transfer our great country one heart, one soul, one conscience at a time. I was proud to hear of the work of Esperanza in Philadelphia. I've known Esperanza for ochos aņos.
Dubya engages in some free-form Spanish-English speaking, but drops the ball on the English part... Washington, D.C., Jun. 26, 2008 Where we see people suffer from forms of government that create hopelessness, or disease and hunger, and mosquito bites, that deny people a hopeful life, the United States must act under the theory, under the principle that to whom much is given, much is required.
I'd like to hear Dubya explain how governments create mosquito bites, Washington, D.C., Jun. 26, 2008 Organizations like yours have shown the ability to save and change lives. And in your mercies of love and mercy, you must always have a strong and reliable partner in government.
Mercies of mercy... Washington, D.C., Jun. 26, 2008 DUBYA: First, I want to tell you how proud I am to be the President of a nation that — in which there's a lot of Philippine-Americans. They love America and they love their heritage. And I reminded the President that I am reminded of the great talent of the — of our Philippine-Americans when I eat dinner at the White House.
PHILIPPINES PRESIDENT ARROYO: Yes. DUBYA: And the chef is a great person and a really good cook, by the way, Madam President. Dubya does precious little to avoid the interpretation that he views serving him dinner as the pinnacle of Phillipine-American achievement. Amazing. White House, Jun. 24, 2008 My only point to you is, is that we're in constant contact with people on the ground to help make sure that we save lives. Now that the water is beginning to recede, the question is, how do we help with the recovery? ...Secondly, what's going to happen in the long term to the homes? And so Michael is going to set up a housing task force similar to the kind we set up in California for the wildfires, to work with state and local authorities to have an orderly strategy to help people get back in their homes. ...Secondly, we're worried about farmers and ranchers. The country that's being affected by these floods has got a lot of farm country, a lot of people raising livestock. And the Secretary of Agriculture has briefed me on the conditions — and we're still assessing how widespread the damage is on the farmlands — and assures me that his team is in place to help farmers and ranchers with the federal aid available. And finally, Director Nussle is here from the Budget Office. We've got what we called a Disaster Relief Fund.
Dubya offers a pair of second points, then ends with a final point, all after making his only point. White House, Jun. 17, 2008 Many, many families look at me trying to determine whether or not, one, I believed that it [the war in Iraq] was necessary, and two, whether or not I'm going to let their son or daughter kind of lie in an empty grave when it comes to the sacrifice they made.
Exactly what kinds of graves would Dubya propose those sons and daughters lie in? Occupied ones? Rome, Italy, Jun. 13, 2008 Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We've heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tahnks — tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided. We have an obligation to call this what it is, the false comfort of appeasement.
Dubya makes a 100% transparent swipe against Democratic presidential front-runner Senator Barack Obama, in honor of the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel. Jerusalem, Israel, May 15, 2008 Part of the faith walk is to understand your weaknesses, and is to constantly try to embetter yourself and get closer to the Lord. And that's a daily occurrence.
Dubya describes his faith with a nonexistent word, White House, May 13, 2008 I'll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office.
No kidding... Washington, D.C., May 12, 2008 Take the Middle East seriously, because that's the center of — that's the place where people get so despondent and despair that they're willing to come and take lives of U.S. citizens.
Everybody in the Middle East? And if people are despondent and in despair, why aren't we addressing that? Washington, D.C., May 12, 2008 I am honored to be here with the Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, better known in the neighborhood as Seņorita Arroz.
Dubya flashes his razor-sharp comedic skills before the Council of the Americas, Washington, D.C., May 7, 2008 Jarrett wasn't alone that night. As you well know, many of your family members rushed to Greenburg from nearby counties and other states to offer love and support.
While delivering the commencement address for graduating seniors at Greensburg High School, Dubya gets the name of their city wrong. Greensburg, Kansas, May 4, 2008 Just think about what life was like in Afghanistan under the Taliban, with al Qaeda driving the agenda. This is where girls have no rights. You can't worship freely. This is a very dark, grim vision that they believe they must spread far and wide. That's what they think. And one way they achieve their objectives, of course, is to intimidate by death. There's no rules with these people. There's just — so America has got to understand that in order to find them we've got to get in their heads. If you're facing a nation, you can find the nation. If you're facing people that burry in failed states you've got to understand how to find them.
Burry... not sure what that means, and neither did the White House transcriber who left it in as-is with a "(sic)" after it. Maryland Heights, Missouri, May 2, 2008 I've been — since I've been your President, I want to remind you we have been through a recession, we have been through a terrorist attack, we have been at war, we have had corporate scandals, we have had major natural disasters.
Yes, I'm pretty sure everyone is aware... Maryland Heights, Missouri, May 2, 2008 Let me talk about energy very quickly. I'm fully aware that people are paying dearly at the pump. The other day at a press conference I said it's like a tax. It's a tax on you. The more that gasoline goes up, the more you're paying — the more you're paying for the pump, the less money you have in your pocket to spend for your family. I will tell you it's taken us a while to get in this fix, and therefore it's going to take us a while to get out of the fix.
Average price in the U.S. for a gallon of gasoline in May 2000: $1.55, January 2001: $1.53, beginning of May 2008: $3.61 (U.S. Department of Labor/Consumer Reports). Seems like it took about the time of Dubya's presidency to get in this fix. Maryland Heights, Missouri, May 2, 2008 : : Fresh Dubya : : Fresh Dubya :
